What makes this house different compared to other residential houses?

This house is an Article 4 1930's built house, Like most semi-detached houses this was limited in floor space. Getting the design right was integral part we had to use every mm in order to achieve the results the customer wanted. Carlton Avenue West is a renowned area of Brent with every house holding it distinctive features. We helped our customer obtain full planning permission for demolition of existing detached garage, construction of a two storey side extension, a single rear extension and loft conversion with a rear dormer. Councils within London has a duty to ensure that developments are carefully constructed. A house within a conservation area is much more restricted. Everything in a conservation area has to be like for like from the materials used to the structure, for example we had to erect another detached garage with the exact same style door. Getting planning permission for a project this size in a conservation was a challenging task but one AC Contractors strives to achieves.The existing layout was cramped. Our customers wanted to utilise the space under staircase to accommodate a shower room on the ground the floor.

The solution

In order to achieve the dream, planning permission was needed to build a two-storey side extension and rear extension. The staircase needed to be trimmed back to allow for a walkway into a new bathroom, existing load-bearing walls were knocked out and supported as per structural requirements.

In order to succeed on this project we required a thorough and effective approach from AC Contractors in order to gain approval from the council and to use those plan to actually build. Sometimes when architect draw plans they have no liaised with the client properly and do not ask them the main question i.e the budget they have for the project and what exactly they would like to achieve. We thoroughly went through this project with our clients giving them ideas of what can be done within there budget.

We maximsed ambient light by adding large Bi-folding aluminum doors to the kitchen and extended sitting, this allowed the internal spaces to be opened to the garden, bringing with it the feeling of space and vast amount of lighting.
